How the Four Coin Volcano Games Differ: Grids, Features and Jackpots

At first glance the series looks like one idea repeated four times: a volcano, glowing coins and a respin round. Spend a little time with each and you notice that the studio changes the machinery quite deliberately between releases. Grid size, the way the bonus is triggered, how multipliers behave and which jackpots are reachable all shift. What follows is a plain description of those differences, drawn from the information 3 Oaks Gaming has published about its games. The studio gives no return-to-player, volatility, bet-range or maximum-win figures, so none of those appear below and we will not guess at them.

What all four have in common

Every game in the family ends up in a bonus round built on respins, where coin symbols carrying values land and stay in place. Fixed Mini, Minor and Major jackpot prizes can show up on those coins. Special symbols reveal hidden jackpots, transform into other symbols or collect the values visible on screen. Filling the whole grid is linked to the Grand jackpot, published at five hundred times the stake in all four titles. Beyond those shared ideas, they diverge.

Coin Volcano (August 2023)

The original is the most compact. It uses a three-by-three grid, and three symbols on the middle row start the bonus with three respins. A Sticky Coin can remain locked on the reels until respins are triggered, which, according to the studio, raises the chance of reaching the bonus. In the round itself you collect coin values, watch for the Mini, Minor and Major prizes and use the Mystery Jackpot symbol, which reveals one of them. A Mystery symbol can turn into any symbol except the Sticky Coin, and a Collect symbol gathers every coin value at that moment.

The volcano multiplier is the thing that gives the title its name. During respins it may appear at random and drop between one and nine multipliers across the reels. A separate Ultra Bonus Game can begin at random and guarantees that multiplier feature at the start. And a Volcano Metre fills up as symbols land on an active line; when it is full, the bonus begins. The overall feel is simple and direct: one grid, one trigger, a handful of special symbols.

3 Coin Volcanoes (November 2024)

Here the design changes shape. The layout is four by three, and the trigger is four symbols on either of two active lines, again leading to three respins. The big idea is the trio of volcanoes above the reels. When bonus symbols land on an active line in the base game, fire effects in green, red and blue awaken the matching volcano. Each one gives a booster in the bonus round:

  • Life refills the respin counter.
  • Multi releases multipliers, and those landing in the same cell combine.
  • Grow unlocks two additional rows.

The fire effects remain active during the bonus and can trigger further boosters. If the expanded grid is completely filled while Grow is active, a Royal jackpot becomes possible, published at two thousand times the stake. A Lucky Eruption extra can start the bonus with at least two boosters in play. The studio describes the game as having up to five jackpots, which fits the Mini, Minor, Major, Grand and Royal tiers. Compared with the original, this is more layered: you are no longer waiting for one trigger but watching which of three volcanoes wakes up.

Coin Volcano 2 (August 2025)

The sequel returns to the format of the first game but with a bigger stage: three by five positions. Filling the middle row triggers three respins, and a Sticky Coin remains on the reels until the bonus triggers. Coin symbols land with various values, possibly including fixed Mini, Minor and Major prizes, and the familiar Mystery Jackpot, Mystery and Collect symbols all return. A Mystery symbol here can change into a Bonus or Jackpot symbol. Filling every position may pay the Grand jackpot at five hundred times the stake.

The multiplier mechanic is expanded. The volcano feature can erupt at any moment and put up to nine multipliers on the reels, and where two land on one spot their values combine. The Ultra Bonus Game again appears at random with guaranteed multipliers. The addition is the Boost Bonus Game: multipliers are guaranteed and begin at a raised value of five, but it can be reached only through a buy option, and the studio says that option is available in select regions. Whether you see it depends on the casino and your country, so check the menu.

3 Super Coin Volcanoes (January 2026)

The newest title builds on the three-volcano design, keeping the four-by-three layout and the three volcanoes. Its bonus is described as a Hold and Win round that begins when four symbols line up on an active triggering line. Mini, Minor and Major prizes are fixed, special Mystery, Mystery Jackpot and Collect symbols return, and filling the screen may pay the Grand jackpot. The three volcanoes can release up to three features in the bonus:

  • Life refills the respins.
  • Multi Volcano triggers eruptions that each apply between two and six multipliers of two to random cells, with every further hit on the same cell adding one to its total.
  • Grow adds two rows, and filling the larger grid may award the Royal jackpot.

What is genuinely new is the Super Wheel. Before each bonus round it spins to select one of several enhancements, one of which awakens the Gold Volcano. That is a supercharged multiplier eruption in which the multipliers are worth five and each repeat landing on one cell adds five. A Lucky Eruption can start the bonus with at least two features active. For anyone who liked the three-volcano game, this is the version with the most moving parts.

Comparing them directly

If you favour a clean, readable bonus, the original is easiest to follow because it has a small grid and only one multiplier mechanic. If you like watching a bonus assemble from several parts, the two three-volcano titles reward attention, and the later one adds a pre-bonus wheel. The sequel with its wider reels suits players who enjoy larger boards and combining multipliers, with the extra buy-only mode as a regional option. The Royal jackpot appears only in the two games that have three volcanoes; the original and the sequel top out at the Grand tier.

Remember that the headline multiples are jackpot values, not a published maximum win, and the studio does not state a maximum win for any of the four. Likewise, the studio does not publish how often the bonus triggers, so statements that one version “pays more often” have no basis we can verify.

How to choose

Try each in a demo where one is offered. Pay attention to how long a bonus round lasts, how much happens at once and whether the visual effects help or distract you. Then decide which fits your preferred pace. The version pages on this site list the features of each in detail, and you can start from the games overview. If you later play for real money, open the info screen of the specific game at your chosen casino, since stake ranges and any return figure belong to that operator’s setup.
